In Conversation with Sarah Salway

Friday 24 May from 6.45-7.45pm

Sarah Salway has been writing about gardens and gardeners for some time. ‘Stories From the Garden’ website was a result of Sarah’s year (2011-2012) as Canterbury Laureate. Her creative project was to create a portrait of the county through original poetry and fiction inspired by its gardens. This has now been extended to include gardens outside Kent, and also in literature, art and the imagination.

This year for the Chelsea Flower Show Fringe Sarah will be creating a virtual Poetry Promenade of selected projects taking part in the Fringe. These will be posted on a website on a daily basis for 12 days, and mapped on a Google map. Lisa has recorded an excerpt from Jane Eyre for one of Sarah’s gardens and this will be broadcast as part of the Poetry Promenade.

You can watch my contribution to Sarah's project below. This was used for the GEFFRYE MUSEUM, HOXTON
