Fotofest International 2016

Changing Circumstances - Looking at the Future of the Planet,
Fotofest International, Houston, Texas

With the assistance of an AN Travel bursary‚Äč I was able to meet with museum curators and gallerists at this year's Fotofest International. Taking place only once every other year, this festival features multiple exhibitions across Houston and the surrounding area and is one of the oldest running and most respected Photo Biennials in the world.

This year's theme was the environment and featured many wonderful works by artists known in the UK such as Mandy Barker's work on plastics found in the sea, (above) Susan Derges's new work based on tidal pools, Gina Glover's project The Metabolic Landscape, looking at the environment as a body in metabolic distress. Alongside these works were old and new pieces by Isaac Julien, there was a wonderful accompanying book.
